Get Dressed Challenge {Week 4} Pictures

I am participating in the “Get Dressed Challenge” where the goal is to get ready each weekday by 8am.  Yes, I realize my head is missing in all of the below pictures.  Out of respect for my husband, who did not want any personal info on our family on my blog, I’ve decided to post pictures only of what I’m wearing.

This was the last week of the challenge and I have to say, I was not motivated to get dressed this week.  But, I did each day.  Just not always by 8am!

Tuesday we took DD in for her flu shot.  Which meant DH had to get up earlier than usual and we had to go in as soon as the office opened so we could get the shot before DH went into work.  (Yes, I insist that he go to almost every Doctor’s appt that DD has!)

So, I didn’t get my shower in until DH was home for lunch.  I got dressed, but didn’t plan on putting on any makeup since the day was already half over.  I figured I’d give my face a break.

But, seeing myself dressed made me decide that I should put my make up on.  It actually motivated me to finish getting ready for the day!

My goal is to continue getting ready for the day each day by 8am.  And maybe I’ll even add some accessories! I seem to go in and out of phases of wearing jewelry. Right now I only wear jewelry to church, on occasion. I never wear jewelry around the house. In fact, until recently I didn’t even wear my wedding ring unless I was out in public because I often scratched DD with it by accident. Now that she’s a toddler, it’s not such a hazard to wear all the time.  And I sure do love to admire the beautiful ring from DH 🙂

Monday (see the cute house slippers I mentioned in last weeks post?  They actually match the sweater in this picture.  And, if you think they look familiar, you probably saw them on Sarah Mae’s blog.  Only I think they were in brown).

I don’t know if you can tell from Monday’s picture, but I have no clue how to wear the neck thing on this sweater!  Not even sure what it’s called.  Is it a cowl neck???  I’ve tried to move it around different ways and it just doesn’t look right to me no matter what I do.  Any ideas????  It is wide enough that you could wear it a bit off each shoulder, but I’d rather find another way to wear it.

FAIL!!!!

I didn’t end up getting dressed today.  I thought about it, but DD was having a rough morning and I didn’t think we were gonna go anywhere, so I slacked off.  I did finally change out of my sweatshirt into a nicer top in preparation for going to the grocery store.  But, I kept my sweat pants on and didn’t put on any make up.

The Get Dressed Challenge!

This week was partly a success.   I got ready each day, but on Wednesday, I didn’t get ready until after 10am!  It was snowing and I was just not motivated to get out of my warm comfy laying-around-the-house clothes.  I wasn’t sure if DD and I would leave the house or not, but we did end up going out to run some errands.   So I got dressed in the end.  But, after we got back home, I changed back into my comfy  pants!  But, I left my “nice” sweater on.

I didn’t wear my shoes in the house once this week.   For some reason, I stuck to wearing my slippers.  I actually bought some cute house shoes after starting this challenge, but they make my feet too hot!  Maybe once the weather gets even colder I can wear them comfortably???

Friday – Hallelujah!  See the pants I’m wearing?  These haven’t fit for 2.5 years (since I got pregnant with DD).  I am so tired of wearing my jeans  (in a desperate attempt to get out of maternity jeans, I bought two pairs of jeans that fit me a few months ago) and having to wear a belt with them since they are a bit too big in the waist.  I am elated to be able to wear these pants again – yay!

The Get Dressed Challenge!

Compared to what I used to wear most days and how late in the day I would get ready, this week was a smashing success!  I did get ready for the day every morning and stayed away from my usual comfy lounge-around-the-house clothes.  It sure was nice to be able to walk right out the door when it came time to run errands, get the mail etc.  None of this, oh, I guess I’d better get dressed before I go out in public in the middle of the day.

I didn’t bother taking pictures of my shoes except for one day.  Because we don’t wear shoes in the house, I always wear slippers (bright red ones).  But, I have recently started wearing tennis shoes (thanks FlyLady!) that I only wear in the house.  So that’s what I wore each day.

The Get Dressed Challenge Day 1

The Get Dressed Challenge!

I mentioned last week that I was participating in a challenge for the next 31 days to get dressed every morning instead of lounging around in my comfy (but not cute) clothes all day.

I’m not going to post each day, but in the event that days 2-31 end up in disaster (AKA I don’t get dressed before noon, or at all) at least I can document that day 1 was a success!!!

I usually don’t shower and get ready for the day until DH comes home from work for lunch.  The mornings are just too hectic for me to take an hour to get ready.   But, last night I asked DH if he could start watching DD in the morning after his shower so I could get a shower in too.

I told him  he could put DD in the pack n play and continue getting ready, but I just wanted him to be available so he could get her if she needed anything.   I also suggested that he could sit her at the table and let her color while he ate breakfast.

It was awesome to get in a shower before MJ left for work today.   And to be ready before 9am.  I can’t tell you the last time that happened!  I’ve always been a morning person and would wake up by 6am every day, even on weekends.  The first thing I’d do was shower and get ready for  the day.  But after Grace came along, my routine drastically changed.

I’ll post pictures this Friday of what I wore each day of the first week.

Well, I’m apparently really into 31 day series because while still in the midst of 31 Days of Date Night Ideas, I am joining up with a new series starting this Monday.  It’s called “The Get Dressed Challenge” and Sarah Mae is the inventor of it.

Basically, the challenge is to get dressed every day by 8am.  I’m assuming the only people who don’t already do this are those who work from home.  When I worked outside the home, I never had a problem getting dressed up.  But, ever since DD was born, my daily wardrobe has mainly consisted of my hair being pulled up in a messy bun type thing, wearing sweats and no make-up.  When we go out, I do sometimes put more effort into my appearance and other times I don’t.

But, starting Monday, my goal is to consistently get ready each morning for the next 31 days (and by the time the 31 days are up, it should be a habit).  I heard a great tip to help you get dressed fast in the morning.  Check the weather the night before and pick out your clothes for the next day before you go to bed.   I plan to do this to help make getting ready in the morning as easy and quick as possible.

The participants in the challenge will be linking up to Sarah’s blog each Friday and sharing pictures of themselves for every day that week.

Sound like fun?  Feel free to join us, here.
